For an effective workout with resistance band,the important point to keep in mind is to ensure that the resistance is high enough , in other words you need to put some effort while doing exercises with resistance band. If you are going to workout with a level one band then its a waste of time as it hardly offers any resistance instead you need to workout with level 3 or 4 band which is more effective.
When you are traveling another way to stay in shape is to perform body weight exercises, body weight exercises are even more effective than resistance band the only problem is a) You can’t workout all body parts effectively with body weight exercises b) Besides push up and squats most people cannot perform other tough exercises like pull ups,hand stand shoulder press etc.
Here resistance band can be good replacement for some exercises that you cannot perform with body weight for example you can do cable rows instead of pull ups,shoulder press instead of hand stand shoulder press.
Overall resistance band is a great way to stay in shape while traveling and if you can combine body weight exercises with it then it even better.
