Lack of warm up is the one most common reason for injury, working out a cold muscle is sure shot way to invite injuries. Shoulder, lower back and knee injury are most common among people who do not warm up properly before starting their exercise plan. But these injuries can be prevented by just doing a small warm up routine for 5- 10 minutes, something as simple as walking, shoulder rotation, brisk walking for 10 minutes can help warm up your muscles and reduce your chances of injury. Warming up before an exercise also helps with better muscle control during exercise, prevents early fatigue and promotes proper blood circulation. One point i would like to add over here is that some people confuse stretching with warm up, stretching is not a warm up in fact if you try and stretch cold muscle then chances of muscle tear are high,so pls ensure that you warm up first before you start stretching .
With so many benefits make sure that you always warm up before starting any exercise program.
